"i love you mom"

the boys are calling me mom now..... :)

i hear "i love you mom" all the time...

i love them too.

Perspective Change....

Today i went shopping with 4 other female missionaries here on the ranch. We went into one store (like a walmart), and we were all shopping around. I started laughing at myself as almost everything i looked at, i looked at from a different perspective than i used to. It was like this... "hmm...i sure could use more containers for leftovers...." or "the boys could use this...." or things like that. What made me laugh the most was what i left the store with: 3 new little cute water bottles for the boys to bring juice to school in for snack time, and pull-ups for nighttime. Ha! I felt very excited and satisfied about my purchases, too.....

.....what a change of perspective.....from me to we to them......

thanks, God.

What's been going on lately??

Well, i haven't posted lately cuz honestly, life has been difficult and by the time i get a chance for myself, i don't feel like blogging :) Why has it been difficult?? Well.....it's just hard to be a single mom of four little ones!

Yesterday and last night i was able to take 24 hours off, and so that was nice. It was even better because i was able to spend some quality time with some of the older kids on the ranch...who i've missed being able to hang out with. Also because all the singles on the ranch here had what we call "family night." It is where we all gathered in one of the single housing and have a big family dinner. It was a great time of fellowship...and guitar hero :)

I will also say there was a frusterating point yesterday and i will not go in to it any more than this: i hate rumors, and everything that can go along with them. We as Christians need to act as God would have us act....if we have concern for each other...confront each other...don't go "expressing your concern" to others....espessially if you were asked not to spread rumors about certain things.

Today, i'm back with the kids. It's been GORGEOUS weather out lately, and so we spent about an hour outside playing in the sun today, until everyone got to hot! It was absolutely wonderful!

Then, i've decided to move the 4 year old into a room of his own, so that he won't keep the other boys up so much, as he's been having a very hard time obeying and going to bed well. He was pretty excited to move, so all of us together worked to move all his stuff into his new room :)
It will be interesting to see how it works out.

Also today i wanted to have all the boys try on all the pants/shorts that they owned so i could see how many jeans they had for school (they wear uniforms and jeans are part of them but jeans have to be nice...with no holes). So we did that for a long time....getting rid of the high-waters, and separating "play-clothes" and "school/church clothes." The boys enjoyed it, too...seeing what they had and realizing they were GROWING!!! :)

I would love to hear from all of you. I have heard it's hard to leave comments on here...that's wierd. Hit me up on my e-mail then.... sarainhonduras.blogspot.com

Much Love,
Sara

im tired!!!

Here it is...Saturday morning...I am listening to the baby goo and ga while i post a quick blog, because i'm too tired to get out of bed! (yes i'm blogging while laying down under my warm down comforter!).

I had a couple days off which were very refreshing to just have some alone time, and also some time with friends.

The boys made home-made hammocks yesterday, which kept them very occupied while it rained like cats and dogs ALL day long.....they turned out really cute ....and i found one of them sleeping in one last night.. ha! One of the kids is borrowing my camera right now, but hopefully i can take a pic soon before the hammocks get destroyed :)

This morning is "chocolate chip pancake morning." We have a new tradition of having these every saturday morning..the boys love it...

Speaking of which i better go get the baby dressed and the other boys out of bed.

Have a great weekend....leave commentssssss!

a day in the city and lots of things to be thankful for!

Last night one of my kids, the oldest: Enmanuel, started complaining of some pain, and i decided it was going to be necessary that we go see a doctor if the pain was still there in the morning. It was, and so off we went, after finding a translator (i don't do well with medical terms....the rest i can get by with...but not when it comes to technically medical stuff!), a driver to drive us to and from the city, and a few babysitters (for my 3 kids left behind, and the translators 5 kids!). Needless to say, it was a miracle we even got to go to the doctor, and i was reminded again how blessed we are to have the ability to go, and pay for, a doctor. Enmanuel is doing fine, we got some medicine and tests done and everything should be easy from here :)

I also was just so thankful for babysitters! When you ARE one, i guess you just don't always feel sooo appreciated. But it sure made life easier, to leave the 3 little ones at home while i took Enmanuel....and it was great to have almost a full-day of 1-on-1 attention for Enmanuel. He was super spoiled after the doctor. The translator bought him a snack while we were waiting at the doctors office, then we went to a really yummy "typico" restaurant for lunch, and then to the mall to wait for our ride to pick us up, and we had "dippin-dots" for a treat before we hit the hour-bus drive back to the ranch. He couldn't really eat dinner cuz he was so stuffed from the day!! haha :)

I'm also so thankful for friends. I just love encouraging and fun emails updating me on life. Knowing that i am not "forgotten" over here in honduras means so much! It's easy to feel alone, espessially now as i am a single-house mom....stuck inside with the kids all day! (except for the few hours per day i take them outside to play at the park of course!). I'm thankful also for the older teens here who stop on by to hang out with me in teh house....thankful that i haven't lost the opportunity to speak into their lives etc....thankful they will seek me out...thankful God will use me....thankful for the kids friendship!

And today, we had very little ("pocititito") rain! Horray!! I can't wait for rainy season to be over and the sun to start shining again!!

Much love....leave comments!!!! :) You don't have to be a "member" to leave comments! I just changed that setting! wooho!

the life of a new mom...

....is crazy! We are officially in the "testing" stage....how far can they go before i lose it! :) Two kindergartners, 1 preschooler and a toddler really can pull your hair out...i will probably start going grey before ya know it! haha! They sure are cute kids, but it is a hard stage right now...needing to set the stage that they do need to listen and respect me. Ohh boy. :) And man....do kids really need to put EVERYTHING in their mouths! Man...i'm glad i know a "little dirt don't hurt!"
:) Haha.

Tomorrow is my day of "compras"...or "shopping" for food etc....It will be a nice break to get out, i will also have some time to just be with my friends so that will be nice, also.

It's rainy season here and you never know when it's going to downpour! Bring out the sun!!!

This afternoon while the kids nap i finally got a little motivated to unpack my luggage! YES! My luggage has arrived after 8 days of waiting for it! Also, for those of you who knew about the Tegucigalpa airport closing...it has re-opened for 2 years at least! Praise God, seriously! Apparantly, though, Continental and American are not landing there still, so we'll see how this effects us as a ministry.

Leave a comment, so i know it's worth posting still!!!

baby drool and miracles

Just a quick story today....

The other day i was on my computer in our living room, so i could be hanging out with the boys while working (looking up recipes for this weeks menu :)). Well of course all the boys wanted to see what i was doing, so i was surrounded. The big boys finally got sick of it cuz it was boring (not enough pictures!) and they were playing...well, the baby comes over to my computer to check it out for himself. He was drinking water out of a cup while he watched (with a lid)...he promptly came over, took a big gulp of water and drooled INTO the little air slots of my computer! Immediately my computer screen turned blue saying "hardware error." I freeked out (in my mind so the boys wouldn't be startled). What would i do without my computer?? It's my communication with friends and family and supporters, it's my recipe book, it's my budget, it's many things that i need while here. And HOW was i supposed to get this fixed. Well, i turned it upside-down trying to get the water/drool out. Nothing. So i went into the other room and started pleading with God while restarting my computer again. Nothing...blue screen. Again...oh it's a black screen now. One more shot....restart....God PLEASE turn this computer on .....pleading more with the Lord, now realizing that if it even had a chance of turning on again it was only by God's power and Grace.........wait...it's turning on.....turning on....enter password......UP AND RUNNING!!!!!!

PRAISE THE LORD. I truly believe and confidently know it is only through God's powerful hand and His grace to my stupidity for turning this machine back on.

Praise His Name. Thank you Jesus!

Hey Everyone,,

I just wanted to send you all a quick update, since it's been a long while!! I had a great furlough, being able to see many, but not even close to all of you! It was extremely refreshing and great to be aroudn loved ones! I also celebrated my 23rd birthday, counseled for TRAX at SBR, traveled alot, spoke at ACC about missions, spoke at a VBS about missions, and was maid-of-honor in my friend Brianna's wedding!
All in all it was a much needed break, and much enjoyed. I was excited to get back to honduras and see waht i call "my kids!" Little did i know that when i got down here, i would have about 1 day off and then would literally have "My own" children to be a house-mom for full-time.

That's right, a set of our honduran house are no longer with the ministry, (that just happened since i've been back), and so a house full of 4 boys, ages 2,4,5,6, all of the sudden needed a mother.....and i was called upon to fill the role. I know that this is God's plan, and I know He is in control....do i myself feel ready for this task?? Not at all! Do i think God is surprised about this?? Not at all! I know that this is God's perfect timing and i know He will see me through and give me the strength and wisdom! I am looking forward to days ahead and getting settled with my boys. I have moved most of my things into this house and am starting to try and adjust to my new full-time-house-mom schedule.

I would absolutely covet your prayers during this huge transition. The amount of time i will be full-time in this house is unknown. We are waiting on some house parents who are raising support right now to move down here. Pray that they can raise their support quickly with God-Speed, so that these boys here can have a new mommy and daddy to adjust to ...the way a family is meant to be. I will be in here until that family arrives....it could be anywhere between September and December, but most likely closer to december, depending on their fundraising.

Please be praying for me and my boys......Darwin (2), Crisitian (4), Junior (5), Enmanuel (6). (enjoy the pics!)
Please update me on your life!!

In the Lord's gracious hands,
Sara
